Fire Hydrant Maintenance By-Law
And it’s impact on the Town of Billerica
The passing of the Fire Hydrant Maintenance By-law, has had
a
positive impact on the safety of firefighters and the residents of
Billerica. The fire hydrants are an integral part of Billerica’s water
distribution system. Because of this and other fire preventionimprovements in
the town, I have requested the Town Manager
to file for an updated Fire Insurance Rating for the Town of Billerica.
The last time we went through this process we missed the
improved
fire rating by less than one point. We are now going through
this
process for a second time. If we are successful in reaching the next
level, residents should see a savings on their homeowners insurance,
due to the Town’s ability in providing a higher level of fire protection.
